Coming of age day is a national holiday.

Coming of Age Day is a Japanese holiday to congratulate people who became 20 years old. January 15th used to be Coming of Age Day. In the year 2000, the Japanese government changed the holiday to the second Monday of January so that people can have a long weekend. Local governments hold Coming of Age ceremonies for young people. The ceremonies are good opportunities that they meet their friends after many years.
