There are about 3200 public libraries in Japan and about 120 ones in Osaka prefecture. Most of the public libraries are run by local governments. Osaka city government runs 24 public libraries as of now. Many people make use of libraries to borrow books and study something there. Especially junior and high school students use them to prepare for their periodical examinations. Anyone can use them even if they are not residents of the city.
