We call National Foundation Day Kenkoku-kinenbi.

February 11th is celebrated as National Foundation Day. According to Japanese mythology, this day was the enthronement of the first emperor, Emperor Jimmu who founded Japan.
It was designated a national holiday in 1967. Many countries establish their National Foundation Day as a national holiday. Since the actual National Foundation Day is not clarified in Japan, our National Foundation Day was established by old Japanese mythology. It is different from Independence Day in many countries.
