In the picture, it is a simple osechi-ryori which we eat on New Year's Day.
The sliced raw fish on the left octagonal plate is tuna and shredded radish with Japanese green basil on the side. The yellow ones on the right plate are chestnuts. with black soybeans. To the left is konnyaku potato, bamboo shoot, taro, and spawns of sea bream.

We also ate rice cake with miso soup. It is a special miso soup called Zouni which is eaten on New Year's Day. We usually eat it with dried bonito shavings.
