· SIGHTSEEING

There are many quaint houses and some of them have been renovated into a cafe. These cafes become popular not only in Shodoshima but also throughout Japan. We call them Kominka-cafe. Kominka means a quaint house. Kominka-cafes in Shodoshima serve lunch and dinner using local ingredients as shown in the pictures. These ingredients are clockwise, from the top cucumber pickles, boiled and cinnamon-sweetened adzuki beans, green beans with peanut butter, burdock and carrot with sesame oil, spicy eggplant, sweet potato, eggplant and green sweet pepper, edible brown algae, salad, fried eggplant and potato curry with tomato in the center. The dishes beside the big plate are miso soup and rice mixed with seeds and grains. The last picture is the appearance of the cafe from outside. Please try eating local and healthy ingredients when you go to Shodoshima.
