Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) released the preliminary figures for foreign visitors for the month of January which was estimated by JNTO. Compared with the grand total in January 2018, the grand total in January 2019 was 2,689,400 persons and increased 7.5%. Compared to the month of January in the previous years, January 2019 has reached the highest number of visitors so far. The number of visitors from Australia was a record high in past single month.
