Ikebana is a traditional Japanese flower arrangement. It is originated in Buddhist temple, where monks arranged flowers to offer them to statues of the Buddha in the 7th century. There are more than 1000 schools in Japan. Especially, many schools are located in Kyoto where it had flourished in the 7th century. Ikebana literally means to give life to flowers. Japanese people really like ikebana, so you can see some ikebana displays in shopping malls, department stores and stations in Japan.
